Science and technology

Science and technology is mandatory for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In science and technology, students explore the natural and made worlds. They learn how to apply scientific and technological skills, knowledge and understanding across a broad range of contexts.

Science provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real world problems. The inquiry and skill-based nature of science opens doors to ideas and discoveries.

At Marton Public School, we aim for our students to become effective and responsible users of technology to learn, create and communicate. ICT is used in every classroom throughout the school. Our students use various digital technologies to enhance, support and present their learning.

All classrooms have Interactive Whiteboards and a bank of computers, in addition to our Technology Lab with an Interactive Touchscreen TV and computers to accommodate an entire class. Specific grades have access to portable learning devices such as laptops and iPads, offering students the flexibility to learn at their own pace and to continue learning outside the classroom.
